十月三日﹐美國加州柏克萊（UC Berkeley）大學宣布與YouTube網站達成影音分享協議﹐四日開始在YouTube上公布九門課程（四十堂課﹑共約三百小時）的教學錄影﹐包括和平與沖突研究﹑生物工程學﹐以及名為“給未來總統的物理課”的理工課程。柏克萊大學說﹐他們會持續增加上傳的課程內容。(chinesenewsnet.com)

也就是說﹐點開YouTube的Berkeley頁面﹐可以看到教師上課的全程錄影﹐身臨其境有如在現場上課。這是第一次把大學課堂搬上YouTube的行動。而此前﹐不少大學早已開始在網上公開課程的嘗試。(chinesenewsnet.com)

最知名的是一九九九年開始的麻省理工大學（MIT）開放式課程（Open Course Ware）計劃。至今﹐MIT已經在網絡上公開了三十三個學科的九百個線上課程﹐提供教學大網﹑課堂講稿﹑習題及解答﹑測驗﹑書目閱讀清單等等。零八年之前﹐他們計劃增加至一千八百個課程。同樣在網上開放課程的﹐還有約翰霍普金斯公共衛生學院﹑猶他州立大學﹑日本東京大學﹑巴黎高科等全球超過五十所名牌大學。(chinesenewsnet.com)
